Christmas Eve
Christmas was wonderful in every way. We had so much fun that I'll have several blog posts about our Christmases.
We started off the celebrations on the afternoon of Christmas Eve by driving to Kyle's aunt and uncle's house in Bastrop for Christmas with the Woytek side of the extended family. They have a farm with a bunch of miniature donkeys. Check it out.
Elle loved going out to see the donkeys but she had no desire to get down in the mud and pet them.
It was cold!! brrrrrr

Elle and Shelby (second cousins) had fun running around together being silly. They loved Teri and Jerry's nutcracker collection. Elle especially loved the Longhorn nutcracker and the Princess nutcracker and she was little afraid of the nutcracker that was as big as her. Here they are looking at some of them.
Big hugs between the girls at the end of the night.
Elle was so exhausted from our fun in Bastrop that she fell fast asleep on the way home. We were home by about 8:00pm and she was out for the night! (That is really early for Elle to go to bed!) I was a little disappointed because we didn't get to make a big deal about setting out Santa's cookies or read Twas the Night Before Christmas with her before bed. However, it was very nice to have a long evening at home to perform all of our Santa duties!

Elle at the Movies
We took Elle to see The Princess and the Frog the first weekend it was in the theaters.
Here she is waiting patiently for the movie to begin.
The pic was taken from my cell phone, and until now I didn't know how to get the pictures off my cell phone. (I have an old phone!)
Elle had a great time at the movies and sat through the entire thing very well. She asked questions all the way through: "What's that?" "Who's that?" "What'd he do?" but the question she asked most of all: "Where's the princess?" Elle wanted more scenes with the princess (as a princess, not a frog), I'm sure!
It was a great movie with great music. We had a fun time taking Elle to the movies!

Visiting Santa
Last year we visited Santa at the Domain, which we were planning to do again. We were shopping there earlier in the month and stopped by to see Santa, but Elle was not going to have any of it. She said "Mommy, I want to go hoooommmmmeeee!" clinging to me tightly. We didn't have high hopes that Elle would want to sit with Santa this year, even though she happily talks about it at home and tells us what she will tell Santa: "I want a babydoll and a hippo toy." She has said this, and only this, from the very beginning of the season about what she wants for Christmas. (And the hippo toy is the Hungry, Hungry Hippos game.)
So... this year, we found out that Santa would be at his house in Round Rock West visiting children on certain evenings. We went to check it out and see if Elle had warmed up to the idea of talking to Santa.
I was prepared to hold Elle the entire time and just visit with Santa and get a few pictures with me in them too. Santa reached his hands out and took Elle from me. He was so sweet and gentle. Elle didn't complain at all. She acted a little shy, but Santa set her on his lap and talked to her for a few minutes. I heard him say "I bet you want a babydoll for Christmas." (PERFECT! He knows!) Elle shook her head yes. Then he said "I'll be at your house Christmas Eve when you're asleep." It was the sweetest conversation that went on for a few more minutes. He wasn't rushed at all. He didn't charge anything and allowed us to get all the pictures we wanted. Just out of the goodness of his heart.

Santa gave Elle a candy cane, then reached over as if he was going to give Elle a coloring book (as I'd seen him give other children before Elle), but instead he reached down into a great big Santa sack on the floor by his feet. He grabbed a gift bag and handed it to Elle. Her eyes lit up!
We said good bye and thank you to Santa and stepped away. Elle wanted to see what was in her gift bag. She opened it and lifted out a stuffed teddy bear. She then went back toward Santa. Santa stepped down from he sleigh to give Elle a hug. She said thank you and hugged him back.

I loved our visit with Santa. We didn't get any big cheesy grins from Elle, but it was better and much more memorable that I would have expected. And now we know where we will come to visit Santa in years to come!!!

Elle's Christmas Performance
See our little dancer...
We think she was just super intimidated by all of the Mommy's and Daddy's watching, it being her first time in front of people like that. It was still the cutest thing. We video-taped her and that afternoon at home, she wanted to watch herself over and over. She sang the song to me and did many of the dance moves for me at home.
After performing their dance and watching the 4-year-old dancers, they had a little Christmas party.
And we can't say enough about Elle's fabulous dance teachers, Ms. Sarah and Ms. Sarah at Dance eMotions!!!
